At Hockley, we believe that golf should be fun. However, we also recognise that it can be a frustrating game if the fundamentals are not understood from the outset.
Which is why we have started 2 initiatives aimed at getting people new to golf off on the right foot.
The first of which is the Hockley Academy.
Joining a golf club without really understanding the game or knowing whether it is going to be a sport for you can be somewhat forbidding.
This is why we have created a 2-year Academy programme that introduces adults to the game of golf with a mixture of individual and group lessons, as well as education on the rules of golf and the way golf should be played - the etiquette of the game.
During this 2-year period, Academy members are allowed access to the course to play at certain times of day after assessment by the Head PGA Professional. They also receive a Club Member's card which gives discounts on food and drink.
If swift progress is made, academy members may graduate to full membership of the Club before the 2 years are up, though this will be dependent on assessment by the Head PGA Professional.
